Mr. Feinberg will also attend and introduce the film. \n“Bagels Over Berlin” is a documentary that tells the story of the Jewish young men who joined the U.S. Army Air Corp just as the United States was just entering the war against Hitler and Germany. Through interviews with 30 Jewish War Veterans the film reveals the anti-Semitism and discrimination these young airmen encountered as well as being in the military branch with the highest mortality rate in the first part of the war. The film won honorable mention at the recent Palm Beach Florida Film Festival \nThe film is entirely in English and open to the community at no charge. Abigail Eagleson will be the collaborative pianist.  One of Pittsburgh’s most thrilling and innovative singers\, Kara Cornell will present Folk Songs of the celebrated American composer Jake Heggie\, and a group of songs by Clara Schumann\, one of the most important women musicians in history\, who was the wife of composer Robert Schumann. The program also features favorite opera arias from Carmen and the Barber of Seville as well as songs and arias by Leonard Bernstein celebrating the Centennial year of his birth.   \nPittsburgh resident Kara Cornell\, is a versatile performer who is known as “a singer who can balance impeccable production and phrasing with enthusiastic and colorful dramatics.”  Kara Cornell performs frequently in leading roles with Resonance Works in Pittsburgh. Nationally\, Kara has recently performed leading operatic and musical theater roles with St. Petersburg Opera (FL) Opera\, Saratoga\, Center for Contemporary Opera\, Stony Brook Opera\, Long Island Opera\, and many more.  \n“Accomplished and electrifying” (Opera Insider)\n“A totally endearing Cinderella”  (St. Petersburg Times) \nKara’s clear English diction\, soulful interpretations\, and intuitive rhythmic skills are making her known as a singer who excels in the Contemporary and American music genre.
