SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:Judith Robinson will be reading poetry\, and showing some art\, along with her friend and terrific poet Charlie Brice\, who is launching his new book\, “MNEMOSYNE’S HAND.”\nhttps://www.wordtechweb.com/brice_hand.html\nHere are the details:\nEVENT: BOOK LAUNCH\nSaturday\, July 14\, 2-4 pm.\nC. C. Mellors Library\n1 Pennwood Ave. 15218 (Edgewood) \nAlso reading:\nPgh poet Scott Silsbe and Detroit poet M.L. Leiber!\nRefreshments! Good will! Good work! Hope you can come! \nTHE BLURB @ THE BOOK!\n“Dive into “MNEMOSYNE’S HAND” and find an existential theorist\, inventively wicked satirist\, and fully realized humanitarian named Charlie Brice. With a sharp eye for detail and an effervescent wit\, Charlie unhesitatingly takes on everything from the snare drum to the psyche. He gives us characters like Jean Paul Sartre smoking cigarettes “to puff away the dread” and Old Manischewitz who “hooked a ferocious gefilte fish.” This is a poet of ideas and deep concern for others who observes our turbulent times with humor\, wisdom and a gentle heart\, a man who\, along with many other poetic insights\, offers words to honor the life of a dying alcoholic “Compadre” as well as to thank a “wife who made for me a place on this earth.”

SUMMARY:The Numbers Keep Changing: Poems and Paintings by Judith R. Robinson
DESCRIPTION:title: The Numbers Keep Changing: Poems and Paintings by Judith R. Robinson\ndescription: As a Jew born during World War II\, Judy Robinson has always been conscious of how easily her life might have been different if she had not been born in the United States. For that reason\, the Holocaust became a subject of study and identity for her. Anti-Semitism and the enormity of loss it created and continues to create led Judy to address these themes in multiple media. Poetry and painting weave together to interpret a shared history. \nAt this opening\, Judy will read her poetry alongside corresponding paintings that will be on display at the Center through April. This event is free and open to the public.\nstart-date: 2019-04-09\nstart time: 07:00pm\nend date:\nend time:\nall-day event:\nrecurring event: No\nevent address: 826 Hazelwood Ave\, Pittsburgh PA 15217\nevent organizer: Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh\nevent website: https://hcofpgh.org/judy-robinson/\nevent cost: Free
