SUMMARY:"Big Sonia" film with intro by Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh
DESCRIPTION:title: “Big Sonia” film with intro by Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh\ndescription: Don’t miss this incredible documentary about a tenacious woman and her story of trauma\, survival\, and healing. \nHolocaust Center of Pittsburgh will be hosting this special screening\, and sharing their mission to educate\, provide resources\, and counter intolerance in the world. \nAbout “Big Sonia” (2016)\nIn the last store in a defunct shopping mall\, 91-year-old Sonia Warshawski – great-grandmother\, businesswoman\, and Holocaust survivor – runs the tailor shop she’s owned for more than 30 years. But when she’s served an eviction notice\, the specter of retirement prompts Sonia to resist her harrowing past as a refugee and witness to genocide. A poignant story of generational trauma and healing\, BIG SONIA also offers a laugh-out-loud-funny portrait of the power of love to triumph over bigotry\, and the power of truth-telling to heal us all. \n——————-\nAbout Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh\nEstablished in 1981\, the Holocaust Center was created as a living memorial to honor survivors who came to Pittsburgh to rebuild their lives and local soldiers who helped liberate the camps. Rather than build a statue or monument\, community members wanted a comprehensive resource center that would help people learn about the Holocaust and counter intolerance and hate in all its forms.\nstart-date: 2018-01-07\nstart time: 4:00pm\nend date: 2018-01-07\nend time: 6:00pm\nall-day event:\nrecurring event: —\nevent address: Row House Cinema\n4115 Butler St.\nPittsburgh\, PA 15201\nevent organizer: Row House Cinema\nevent website: http://rowhousecinema.com/#docs2\nevent cost: $7 \nSunday\, January 7th\n4:00pm\n$7 per person\nhttp://bit.ly/BigSoniaIntro\n*Eligible for Row House Film Club free movie!*
