SUMMARY:They Played for Their Lives Film Screening and Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Classrooms Without Borders is excited to bring Dr. Nurit Jugend and her film\, “They Played for Their Lives”\, to Pittsburgh. Jugend is an Israeli composer and music lecturer at Stanford University. She produced the powerful 50-minute documentary about Jewish musicians whose lives were saved in the Holocaust by playing music. The documentary follows the story of eight survivors. Joining her will be Frank Grunwald\, one of the Holocaust survivors featured in the film\, who will play a few songs on his accordion after the screening and answer questions. This event will take place in Rodef Shalom Congregation’s Levy Hall\, 4905 Fifth Ave.\, and is open to the public.
