LEFF: High Point, NC Dr. Alan A. Leff, 61, of High Point, NC, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. A community memorial service will be held in Greensboro, NC, at Beth David Synagogue on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 3:00 p.m., at Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Burial will follow at Zion Memorial Park. Alan was born April 14, 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Frank and Charlotte Lieb Leff. Alan was a member of Beth David Synagogue in Greensboro, NC and a past president of Congregation Shaarey Tikvah in Cleveland, OH. He was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and received his master’s and doctorate degrees from Penn State University. Alan was a board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation where he provided research updates.  Alan was a vice president of Primo Water and was an international water industry expert. He was an avid cyclist, enjoyed fishing, golfing, travel and visiting Alaska. Alan will be remembered for his love of family, loyalty to friends and dedication to his business and philanthropic efforts. Known to see the positive in every situation, Alan’s attitude was a symbol for his joy of life. In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Tombosky Leff. Surviving are his wife, Merrianne M. Leff; daughter, Valerie O’Keefe and husband William of Greensboro, NC; son, Aaron Leff and wife Jessica of Durham, NC; stepson, Miles Berger and wife Miriam of Durham, NC; stepdaughter, Jocelyn Berger of Boston, MA; brother, Myron Leff and wife Joyce of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Eli and Leo O’Keefe, Sylvie Berger and Judah Leff; numerous nieces and nephews.
